SUDC UK is dedicated to increasing awareness of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood, supporting families and funding crucial research. Our vision is for SUDC to be predictable and preventable in the future. SUDC is one of the most under-recognised medical tragedies of our time.

Story

On Saturday 4th July, I’ll be taking part in the Peak District 50km Ultra Challenge Walk to raise money for SUDC UK in memory of a very special little boy, Leonardo.

Leo was sadly taken far too soon on New Year’s Day 2024 after passing away unexpectedly in his sleep. Like so many families affected by Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), his family are still living without answers as to why this happened.

No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child, and watching close friends go through such unimaginable heartbreak is something that stays with you forever. I wanted to take part in this challenge to support them, honour Leo’s memory, and help raise awareness of a condition many people have never even heard of.

SUDC is the sudden and unexplained death of a child aged between 1 and 18 years old, even after a full investigation. Around 40 families every year in the UK are left searching for answers.

The money raised will help SUDC UK continue their vital research, support grieving families, and work towards finding answers that could help prevent other families from suffering the same heartbreak in the future.

Every donation, no matter how small, would mean so much.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity 🤍
