Martin House provides free, family-led hospice care for children with life-limiting illnesses. In 2026, our runners take on the London Marathon—not just a race, but a chance to do something extraordinary and change lives.

Story

I’m running the London Marathon in memory of my first born son, Teddy. He was born prematurely in 2021 and only lived for 36 hours despite the very best effort and care received by the maternity services at the Leeds General Infirmary.

Shortly after he died, Martin House provided an opportunity and sanctuary for me and my family to spend time with him in their specially designed bereavement suite. We were able to make memories and keep sakes, all the while being looked after by their wonderful staff during the most difficult time of our lives.

Afterwards, I was provided with ongoing counselling and we attended a beautiful memorial service along with other bereaved parents. When my second son Theodore was born, I attended the baby group there with other mums and dads that had lost children. It was a great support and great for Theodore too.

I knew one day that I wanted to run the London Marathon to raise money for Martin House and I was was lucky enough to get a ballot place and quite poignantly I will be running on Ted’s 5th birthday, so I knew the timing was right šŸ™šŸ¼

Martin House is such a special place, and I will always be in their debt. I want to give something back and to help other children and parents as they provide so many services that need constant funding.

Thank you in advance for any donation received x
