Story
I am raising money for the local Jigsaw Club, a social opportunities club run to support adults with disabilities in and around the Ampthill & Flitwick area. The Jigsaw Club meets fortnightly with evenings of social gatherings, including guest speakers, activities and events, along with regular group outings which includes theatre trips, concerts, boat trips and restaurant meals, for people who can otherwise be socially isolated due to their disabilities.
This year, my challenge is a BIG TRIPLE 50 - 3 events of 50 foot miles each, and although I have in the recent past covered longer distances in just one event, 50 miles is not, I can assure you, an easy distance to do on your feet in one go!
The good news...I've completed 2 of the events already; a very cold, dark and muddy 50 mile cross country walking event in Leeds back in February, and in May a 50 mile running ultra marathon split across a weekend, running every 4 hours for 48 hours (this totals 48 miles but I rounded mine up to 50...!)
The other good news...I now have just one 50 mile walking event to go to complete my self-set triple challenge, this time on a summer's day (and into the night) in Essex, the Essex 'Golden 50' on July 26th. This will bring my total event miles from February to July to a nice big 150 - if I could raise a little for money for a good local cause while I'm out and about, I'll be one happy me!
