Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2025 · 11 May 2025 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

I will be running the Leeds Marathon and my Dad will be running the Leeds Half Marathon. This will be in honour of my mother, Bernice Bateman; our hero and inspiration.

We hope to raise as much money as possible for Pancreatic Cancer U.K. (who offered Mum support during her diagnosis). Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in August 2021. Mum bravely faced an 18 month tough & eventful cancer battle, and devastatingly passed in March 2023 to this awful disease.

Pancreatic Cancer is the 5th most common cause of cancer death in the U.K. and sadly 50% of people die within the first three months of diagnosis. Donations could help with the following:

-Fund research to help early diagnosis

-Help specialist nurses provide support

-Fund research on further treatments

The above could potentially lead to earlier treatment & improved outcomes.

Thank you for your support & taking the time to visit this page.
