Story
In what may turn out to be a slightly questionable decision, I’ve signed up to take part in Hospice Strictly Come Dancing 2026 in support of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
It’s been quite a few years since I last did any proper dancing, so stepping back onto the dancefloor for this feels like a bit of a challenge. I’m much more likely to be the person tripping over a perfectly flat surface than gliding gracefully across a ballroom floor—so this could be interesting!
I wanted to take part because the hospice does such incredible work for people and families in our community. They cared for my Dad, and the compassion and support they showed meant a great deal to me and my family. Taking part feels like a small way of saying thank you and helping them to provide such amazing care.
It also feels like a fitting tribute in another way. I have lovely memories of dancing with my Dad when I was younger, so while I may be learning a completely new style of dancing (and stepping a little outside my comfort zone), I’ll be thinking of him and smiling.
The Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides its services free of charge, but it costs millions of pounds each year to run, with most of that coming from fundraising and the generosity of the local community.
If you’re able to sponsor me, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps the hospice continue the vital work they do for families across our community.
Thank you so much for your support—and please wish me luck… I may need it! 💃
