In January this year I swam as a body double in a short commercial filmed on behalf of JustGiving featuring Paula Craig MBE, an ambassador for Aspire. Paula became the first person with a complete Spinal Cord injury to swim the English Channel without a wetsuit as part of a relay team in 2022.

Around about now I like to set myself a challenge in memory of my lovely friends Lucie (d.2017) and Kenny (d.2022) who both died far too young.

And so inspired by Paula, this year I plan to swim the English Channel (well the distance of it (!)) 22 miles or 35km over the next 12 weeks. (1st Sept - 24th Nov) I have set a modest target of £200 as I know everyone is struggling with cost of living...but if every one of my FB friends or LinkedIn contacts and colleagues were to donate just £1.00, I would smash it!
