Story
In memory of Annabel Griffiths, who sadly passed away after bravely battling a rare cancer, Costello Medical have opened this Just Giving page for anyone who would like to make donations to the CGD Society, a charity very close to Annabel’s heart. The Chronic Granulomatous Disorder Society (CGD Society) is the leading UK charity supporting people and families affected by the rare, life-limiting, immune disorder CGD.
In 2020, Annabel took part in the Findacure patient group mentoring programme, through Costello Medical. The programme helps small rare disease patient groups reach new milestones by matching them to an experienced mentor for a year. It was through this programme that Annabel met Claire Jeffries from the CDG Society and from there, her involvement and passion for the charity grew.
Annabel took a sabbatical in 2021 and spent 2 days a week for 6 weeks volunteering with the charity alongside plenty of fun and games with her, then, new puppy Wilson! Her focus, during her volunteering, was supporting with fundraising activities to mark 30 years of the CGD Society and developing a mental health survey to understand the mental health needs of charity members and the wider CGD society. In September 2021, Annabel became a Trustee and then Chair of Trustees from 2022 to early 2024 when she sadly needed to step down due to her illness.
Annabel made an incredible impact on the charity, sharing her wide skillset and boundless energy to help drive projects for the charity forward and, in turn, she got so much out of meeting incredibly brave families and knowing she was making a difference. Her passion and desire to make a difference for this charity embodies all of Costello Medical’s values and we would like to honour her memory by providing this opportunity to raise money for the special charity dear to her heart.
