Story
Two years ago, we moved to a new area and Annabelle started a new school. She was shy and nervous, but she quickly made friends with the lovely Sophia. They became the best of friends and bonded over their love of all things Disney, ballet, rainbows, unicorns and many other things 👸🩰🦄🌈💖
They were in the same class at school, went to the same weekly ballet lessons and managed to squeeze in plenty of extra play dates and parties too.
Throughout this whole time, Sophia had cancer, yet her positive attitude, smiley countenance and enthusiasm for life never stopped her. She was always full of fun, giggles and the two girls always had the best time together, usually with Harriet not far behind!
Sadly, in January this year, Sophia gained her angel wings after an incredibly brave battle. Her lovely family have had their world turned upside down, have been through unthinkable pain and Annabelle has had to navigate loss and a world without her beautiful friend.
Annabelle and Harriet will be running the Mini Great North Run to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that is close to Sophia's family's heart. We remember Sophia every day, and we'll be thinking of her and her lovely mum, dad and sisters during our run on Saturday 7th September 💕
If you would like to support the girls, and this charity, we'd be grateful for a small donation in memory of beautiful Sophia 🌈
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
