We raise funds for Goose Green School to enrich pupil's education and well-being

Story

I grew up in East Dulwich and was a pupil of Goose Green Primary school myself (Grove Vale back in the day!).

My Mum was a Music teacher and my Dad was a head of English at a local secondary school. My Dad was a strong believer in the positive impact a high quality Music education can have on a child's Literacy skills and he believed that having a good foundation in Literacy was the key to having better opportunities in life.

Reading was his absolute passion. My Dad would read multiple books, simultaneously. As children, he would take us to the library on a weekly basis. He would then go on to continually buy and read books to my own children.

Sadly, my Dad recently lost his battle with cancer.

As a way to commemorate his life and his devotion to schools and education, I have set myself two challenges to raise money for the two subjects he was so passionate about.

* A Marathon for music:

I will run the London Marathon in April 2024. 26.2 miles to be exact. Although I have actually run the London Marathon before, I do not consider myself to be a runner and am absolutely petrified!

We have also signed up 100x pupils to run the London Mini-Marathon on Saturday 20th April.

* Fitness battle for books:

Two weeks later, I will compete in the London Hyrox Competition. This involves 8 x 1km runs with 8 x functional workout stations: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag walking lunges and wall balls.

Any donations we receive will go to The Friends of Goose Green Primary School, where we will split the money between the following departments:

*The Music department.

I would like to invest in some new resources to enhance the provision at Goose Green.

* The Library.

To celebrate the completion of our NEW school library, some of the money would go to buying some new books.

Best of luck to our pupils who are running the event. Sponsorship donations may also be made to this page.

For me, completing BOTH challenges is going to be really tough. It might not even be achievable but I will give it my best shot.

We really appreciate any donations, big or small. Every penny will enable us to improve the resources for our wonderful school and will, as a result, have a positive impact on the children in our community.
