I'm Ann Block. I'm 78 years old and a lifelong animal lover. Since retiring from my work in the care sector, I've volunteered for a number of organisations, including as a driver for Cuckmere Buses, as well as remaining physically active through paddleboarding and horse-riding. I currently volunteer for the Raystede charity shop in Langley, Eastbourne, as well as for Carers' Support.

My volunteer role and my love of animals has led me to take part in the 2026 Wing Walk Challenge to support the work of Raystede, one of the most diverse rescue centres in the UK.

I'm terrified by the prospect (!) but keen to contribute to the work of a charity that aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary, and people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect. Raystede cares for up to 400 animals every day, including cats, horses, dogs, rabbits, hens and exotic birds and relies on sponsorship and voluntary donations to look after the animals in its care.

Any donation big or small would be hugely appreciated, and will allow them to give hundreds of rescued animals their best chance of a happy life.
