Halifax2Halifax Challenge – Support Our Journey
From Monday 16 March at 9am to Monday 23 March at 8.59am, we’re taking on the Halifax2Halifax Challenge to raise £2,600 for The Welcome Centre, our Charity of the Year.
Together, we will aim to cover 2600 miles – the distance from our office in Halifax to Halifax, Nova Scotia. One treadmill and two exercise bikes will be set up in the Emperor meeting room, where colleagues will complete 30‑minute activity slots throughout the week to keep us moving.
Why we’re doing it
The Welcome Centre is one of the largest independent food banks in our region.
In the past 12 months, they have provided 317,000 meals to people in crisis across Huddersfield and the surrounding areas. This vital support helps individuals and families access food, essential household items and practical help when they need it most. By redistributing donated goods, The Welcome Centre also reduces waste and promotes more sustainable use of resources.
Why this matters to us
Supporting The Welcome Centre closely reflects our organisational values:
Green – reducing waste and supporting sustainable redistribution
Great – acting with integrity and putting people first, just as they do
Gracious – showing kindness, fairness and compassion to our community
How your donation helps
Every mile we complete and every pound raised will help The Welcome Centre continue delivering their essential, dignity‑focused support to local people facing hardship. Your contribution directly enables them to keep food on tables, essentials in homes and hope within our community.
