Story
The 26th of May 2026 will mark 10 years since Eloïse received her diagnosis of JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). 10 years of living with a chronic condition. 10 years of bloods tests, ultrasounds, X-Rays, CT Scans, MRIs, intra-articular joint injections, GAs, a lumbar puncture. !0 years of living with pain. 10 years of trial and error, of great moments followed by huge set backs. 10 years of tablets, injections, infusions. 1- years of side effects. 10 years of asking "why me?"
So on the 26th of May last year, I vowed to move (walk, run, row, swim, bike) 1mile for every day she's lived with this diagnosis. That's a total of 3650 miles (or 5840km), before the 26th of May 2026. That's about the same as 140,000 football fields, or travelling from NY to LA. All whilst working, being a mum and trying not to let the house fall apart.
For an extra challenge, I am going to cycle from London to Paris, hopefully in 4 days, setting off just before Halloween. I've also got a duathlon planned and a half marathon next year (it's been a while!!). None of this is easy. Mentally or physically. But it's far easier than living with JIA.
Thank you for your support, the charity I am supporting not only does amazing work for the kids (wonderful events, little boxes of hope...), they also work so hard to get the message out there about JIA, so that more people are aware of it, and that one day management becomes cure.
