Story

Hello. We’re Alison and Annmarie from Wirral Hospice St John’s and we’ll be abseiling down Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium on Sunday 23rd August to raise funds for our precious hospice.

Alison: “I’m a hospice occupational therapist and my job is to work with patients to help make their lives as ‘every day’ as they can possibly be whether they are referred to our outpatients, wellbeing or inpatients services and for when they’re living at home. I was part of a hospice team triathlon earlier this year and previously I’ve swum through two time zones in the arctic to raise funds for the hospice. This time I’ll be taking a different type of plunge.”

Annmarie: “I’m the hospice’s children and young person’s practitioner and I support families pre- and post-bereavement at the hospice, in the community and in schools. I work with individuals or in groups to support children, young people, parents, grandparents, or care givers. I set myself a challenge in memory of a loved one, who would have been 21 this year, my first goal was a nose piercing!! But I wanted to also raise some monies along the way and the charity abseil is a really important one of them and a massive personal challenge for me as I’m petrified of heights.”

Alison and Annmarie: “Working with patients and their families, at what is often the most challenging time of their lives, together with our fantastic colleagues, is an absolute privilege. From time to time we also love to play our own part in fundraising challenges to show our love and support for the wider work of the hospice.

Wirral Hospice St Johns provides FREE care for adults with life-limiting illnesses. They also support carers and loved ones: families are at the heart of everything they do. Every penny counts and helps to make a real difference to the specialist care they provide to their patients and those important to them

Thank you so much for any support you can give.
