Anne's BIG swim · 31 August 2024

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On Saturday 31st August, I'll be aiming to swim 20 laps (around 5k) around Bare Hills Lakes in Badby, nr Daventry.

I'll be doing this swim to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

In 2019 my beautiful, kind and clever Mum was diagnosed with dementia and since then we have watched her gradually fade away. She has been in full-time care since the end of 2022 and although I visit her often, my Mum has 'gone' and I miss her terribly.

Mum and I used to swim regularly together and I know she would be incredibly proud that I've started open-water swimming and I sometimes wonder if I could have tempted her in the lake!? Sadly, I'll never know.

Please support me, by making a donation to Alzheimer’s Society.

Thank you!
