Story
My beautiful wife Annette sadly passed away peacefully at St Gemma's hospice on Thursday 30th November 2023 at the age of 43.
In April 2021 Annette was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer which had spread to her liver and lungs. She was a fit, young and healthy individual who had presented no symptoms until a couple of weeks prior. As you might expect this was a complete shock to us and the rest of her family and friends.
As a mother to our two young boys who at the time were just 11 and 7, she was determined to fight this horrendous disease. She endured over 60 rounds of chemotherapy over the following two and a half years. It's hard to put into words her remarkable determination to fight and to not let the cancer consume her day-to-day life. Undoubtably cancer and treatment change a family however Annette made sure we focused on what we could do rather than what we couldn't. As a result, we continued to have fun, laughter and create memories that our boys and I will treasure forever.
Annette was a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and friend to many. She was kind, loyal, thoughtful, loving and funny with just the biggest of hearts.
We knew for Annette there would never be a cure, however the family and I are forever grateful to the medical teams who cared for her and gave her the best opportunity to live for as long as possible. When the time came, she was cared for by the amazing team at St Gemma’s hospice in Leeds. Their care and compassion is second to none and we are truly thankful.
You were loved so much and will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace sweetheart we will all miss you immeasurably x
