Story
My name is Annie Frasier and I am raising money for an amazing charity, CPotential, as my journey to the London Marathon in April 2024.
A little bit about me:
I started running at the age of 14 and ever since there it has become my favorite pastime and activity. I have been, and continue to be enthralled with this sport. The joy that it brings me is unmatched compared to anything in my life. I recently got into marathons about five years ago. Ever since my 2nd marathon in NYC, I have made the goal to run all 6 world major marathons. I have completed NYC, Chicago, Boston, and Berlin. London will be my fifth world major marathon. Unlike the others, this will be my first marathon where I will be fundraising, and I am so excited to share more about the reasoning why I will be running for CPotential.
My Story:
During the pandemic, I met someone (for personal reasons, this individual will remain anonymous) who has cerebral palsy. You wouldn’t think anything was amiss. However, their ability to do meticulous, minute tasks can seem daunting. Things that we do every day…the steps we take, the movement of our limbs, this is difficult for those who have cerebral palsy. This also includes participating in contact sports or even biking. This case wasn’t very severe, barely noticeable even. However I know this movement disorder affects them in their everyday life. With that being said, they were able to run. And they would ask me on advice for running, and they even expressed they wanted to run a half or a full marathon one day when races would come back (again this was in 2020)
Fast forward to 2022, I received a call from this individual sharing that they just completed their first marathon. They said they wouldn’t have made it through without all the advice and tips I’d given them. I choked up, more so knowing that they defied the odds of CP and conquering 26.2 miles, more so than knowing I inspired them.
This individual isn’t letting CP get in the way of their goals. They’ve completed a full & a half marathon, and want to run more marathons in the future.
The reason why I chose CPotential is to show how much this individual and their story has deeply impacted me. They are on their way to more greatness in the future – and I want to raise awareness for cerebral palsy and other movement disorders.
With your donation, you are helping young children receiving holistic therapies so they can be their most successful in the future. From music, art, speech, physical movement…every donation helps.
You’ll help future generations of young children with movement disorders, and maybe they’ll be like my dear friend… they may just unleash their best self and run a marathon.
All in all, I dedicate my London marathon journey to this individual. I have learned more about CP because of them and I hope to make an impact on this incredible charity throughout the next several months.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. Please consider donating, and don’t be afraid to share my link with your family, friends, and anyone you know who has/knows someone with CP or other movement disorders.
