Story
Thank you so much for visiting Nathaniels' JustGiving page for John Ambulance.
St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, over 400,000 people learn how to save a life through their vital training programmes. Their volunteers provide first aid in communities across the country, stepping up in the moments that matter most.
Nathaniel has been part of St John Ambulance since he was just 7 years old. His journey began because of his older brother, who lives with complex health needs, including uncontrolled epilepsy. Growing up around the unpredictability of epilepsy, Nathaniel learned from an early age how suddenly things can change and how crucial first aid skills can be in keeping someone safe.
He’s supported his brother through many frightening moments, always calm, always ready. That sense of responsibility and care sparked something powerful in him: a deep passion for helping others.
Now 13, Nathaniel was thrilled to complete his Community First Aider qualification, something he’d looked forward to for years. He’s already given over 150 hours of voluntary service to St John Ambulance, helping at events and demonstrating CPR to members of the public. He is always ready to step up, even when he’s not in uniform. As he proudly says, “my skin is my uniform.”
To give back to the organisation that has given him so much, Nathaniel has set himself a big challenge: to walk a full marathon, 26.2 miles, along the York Millennium Way, with a circuit of the City Walls. This coincides with the conclusion of National Walking Month on Saturday 31st May 2025.
He’s doing this not just for himself, but in honour of all the St John Ambulance volunteers who stand on marathon routes across the country, helping to keep participants safe. Without them, these incredible events, where so many people raise money for causes close to their hearts, wouldn’t be possible.
If you’re able to, please consider supporting Nathaniel on this journey by making a donation and helping St John Ambulance continue their life-saving work.
And if you can’t donate right now, you can still help by sharing this page with your friends, family, and on social media. Spreading the word is just as powerful.
From Nathaniel and everyone who believes in the power of first aid, thank you.
