Gabriel's Fundraising Climb for Wigan Youth Zone

Anthony Ashworth-Steen is raising money for Wigan Youth Zone

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Climb

Paint the Borough Red is our annual birthday fundraising campaign, and it is exactly as bold and bright as it sounds. The idea is simple: celebrate your birthday, do something gloriously red-themed, and raise money for our amazing Rec Area Youth Work

Story

Following the 17-mile walk I completed last year for my Bar Mitzvah project, alongside my Dad and my Daddak (Grandad Brian!), I’ve decided to take on another fundraising challenge for Wigan Youth Zone — a charity I feel really close to that helps improve young people’s lives.

This year, the three of us are going to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in Wales. Neither my Dad nor I have done anything like this before, so it’s going to be a really tough challenge!

I’ve chosen to fundraise for the Youth Zone because it’s a really fun place to be and the youth workers are kind and supportive. I enjoy playing football and spending time in the café. It’s important to support youth centres like this because they can improve young people’s mental health and give them a safe place to go.

My aim is to raise £2,500 for Wigan Youth Zone’s “Paint the Borough Red” campaign, which is running over the next month. The campaign is aiming to raise money to support the Youth Zone’s Rec Area — a space where youth workers create a safe, welcoming environment for young people to escape isolation, be themselves, and feel accepted. It’s a really important part of the Youth Zone.

Anything you can donate would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Gabriel

P.S. We are planning to do the trek on Saturday 4th July, with the 5th and 12th July as backup dates in case the weather isn’t suitable.
