Story
I am asking for your sponsorship for my exciting challenge of a 50km trek through the Sahara Desert in Oct 2025 for which I have a £1700 target raising money for St Luke's hospice, Cheshire.
Hospices are generally poorly funded and this one is a local charity to my step-brother Alex who has supported them for a number of years along with his wife Ros who volunteers in the shop. St Luke’s are in real need of further funding to be able to continue their wonderful work.
The trek will take me up and down sand dunes and through dried-up rocky riverbeds, with temperatures likely to be 35C+ during the day and zero at night (perfect for camping / sleeping under the stars!).
As someone who doesn't cope well in the heat it will be a challenge for me to do this over the 4 days, but I am determined to do this for the good of the people that need St Luke’s services and also to support my step-brother in achieving this too.
Please help by sponsoring me, and make this challenge worth it. Every bit of support will be greatly appreciated.
A little about St Luke's hospice:
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness.
We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
