Story
John Russell, Mike Drummond-Smith, Nicholas Walters and Anthony Knyvett thank you for connecting to their JustGiving page.
Every day we all see the appalling conditions in Ukraine as a result of the unprovoked Russian invasion and the ongoing war. The country is desperate for resources – medical supplies, generators, blankets, etc and of course for 4WD vehicles to aid transportation and actively help on the front line with the extraction of wounded, resupply etc. Even if the on-going talk of a ceasefire were to bear fruit, Ukrainian charities will continue to need these vehicles and the supplies they carry, particularly the medical.
This is where, with your support, Pickups for Peace (P4P) can assist. The volunteers of this amazing charity raise funds to purchase second-hand 4WD vehicles, quad bikes and ambulances; the charity then facilitates their delivery by the volunteers to Lviv in Western Ukraine. As of May 2025, P4P have delivered 640 vehicles fully loaded with urgently needed aid supplies. Inspired by a talk we all attended on P4P, which was given by someone who had himself participated twice in the programme, the four of us were keen to volunteer as we wanted to stop just feeling sorry for the people of Ukraine and do something positive to help them.
Our original goal when we launched our appeal was to raise enough money to buy two vehicles and the aid supplies to go in them. We more than succeeded in this and, as a result, successfully funded and delivered two vehicles. As we were left with a small funding surplus we have decided to put this towards a second trip in the Autumn, however we need to find the balance of the funding required to purchase the second vehicle and so have now revised our funding target. With your generosity we hope to achieve our aim of this second trip.
