Story
I'm pleased to say that I eventually completed every step of the Great Glen Way and the West Highland Way. I did it alone and in winter. I faced some very threatening situations and at times had to temporarily withdraw - first due to kit failure then a chest infection.
During both the weeks of preparation and the fundraising walk itself I've needed to postpone many appointments. I've subsequently attempted to arrange them as close together as possible but unfortunately an anomaly has arisen in the results of one of my medical checks. I have no intention of abandoning the walk or it's objectives. However, I'm not in a position to return until I'm clear of appointments which hopefully won't be too long.
Whatever I do never follows the 'what normally happens' line and this walk is no exception. I'd planned starting in September and arriving in London before Christmas. Now I'm having to smile myself as the 'Christmas of what year?' jokes begin to filter through.
