Story

We are taking part in the Race Across Pendle on 3rd-4th July and need your help!

Anthony and Darren are joining the “Race Across Pendle” in memory of Anthony’s beloved late Wife and Mum to Anthony Dobson ,Lesley Frances Nutter. Lesley was diagnosed in September 2025 with an incurable brain tumour.

Spending only 11 weeks at home with her husband Anthony, dogs Ernie and Polly and supported by family and Friends, sadly she lost her battle in November 2025 Aged 61, surrounded by her family. During her very short Illness, Lesley and Anthony were immediately contacted by the Hospice at Home team. They provided as much or as little support as Anthony required or requested. This ranged from Medical, Mental, Emotional and logistic support.

Anthony and Darren registered for the event on 13th April by visiting the team, this would have been Lesley’s 62nd Birthday.

Pendleside exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers; by delivering specialist and holistic palliative care, which addresses their individually assessed physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

Pendleside currently costs £6.4 million per year to run and only receives around 20% funding, therefore heavily relies on charitable donations and sponsorship raised by fantastic supporters.
