Story

Around 18 months ago, my manager and mentor, Andrew, sadly took his own life. His death had a profound impact on me and on many of the colleagues who knew and worked with him.

Out of such a difficult and painful experience, I wanted to try to do something positive in his memory. That’s why I’ve decided to take on the Stroud Half Marathon and raise money for Samaritans.

Samaritans provides vital support to people who are struggling and makes sure there is always someone there to listen when it matters most. By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise awareness, support the work they do, and do something meaningful in Andrew’s memory.

Every 10 seconds, Samaritans answers a call for help. Samaritans can be contacted round the clock, for free, on 116 123, day or night, 365 days a year. It’s only donations and 23,000 listening volunteers that make sure Samaritans can be there for someone today, so they can believe in tomorrow.
