Story
Medical Life Lines Ukraine (MLLU) has delivered 120 aid-filled ambulances and other emergency service vehicles to Ukraine since February 2022. The vehicles are handed over to the State Emergency Services of Ukraine and the Ukranian Ministry of Health, which quickly pass them on to civilian hospitals and rescue services, often close to the front line. MLLU is in constant contact with the hospitals and the Ministry of Health, and so they have up-to-date data on the prevailing needs. One second hand, reconditioned and insured ex NHS ambulance typically costs around £25k.
Patrick Reeve and Tony Ward have been accepted to fund and co-drive an ambulance to Ukraine. We aim to raise at least £25k collectively towards the cost of our ambulance and hopefully raise additional funding for this important charity. We’ll be joining a convoy of 4 or 5 other ambulances at dawn on 10 May and our drive will take us through Germany and Poland and finally into Lviv in Western Ukraine, a total distance of about 1,200 miles, where we will hand over the vehicles and supplies.
All of our personal costs by way of accommodation, travel, food and fuel for the journey (circa £900 each) are being met by us personally so all donations raised will go directly to the charity.
The work of this charity has saved countless lives and, perhaps more importantly, shown Ukrainians that a huge number of people outside of Ukraine are acutely aware of their plight and are keen to help provide vital support in whatever way we can.
Ukraine Charity was established in the UK by volunteers in 2007 to support disadvantaged children and young adults in Ukraine. Since full-scale Russia`s invasion in February 2022, Ukraine Charity is also fundraising for emergency medical supplies to be delivered to Ukraine.
Important: you can use GiftAid if you're a UK taxpayer, which will be added to your donation!
Ukraine Charity is a registered charity in the UK. Charity Registration No. 1163036
