Story
I am a trustee for a charity called Support EFSL. As the name suggests our primary role is to support the work of the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone (EFSL)!
EFSL does an amazing job in supporting local communities and churches, providing spiritual and physical support both in the cities and rural areas. It is a privilege to help raise funds for their work and I have seen the difference the additional financial support can make!
In particular, I'd like to focus the funds I raise to go towards materials for church roofs. Communities build the walls of a church from locally made bricks and materials but the roofs (which are usually galvanized steel) are a great expense- especially for rural towns. The rains in Sierra Leone can be intense so having a solid roof is an absolute necessity to avoid the church washing away. Once the roofing is complete, the buildings provide long-term strengthening and growth of the local church- encouraging worship, fellowship and evangelism. They also often double as community centres, schools and social hubs. So funding a roof can impact an entire community for good.
