Story
In November we will be running the Athens Marathon – the original, where the Ancient Greek Pheidippides announced victory over the Persians, then collapsed and died. I doubt anything of historic significance will happen if we (hopefully) cross the finish line…. but something that IS significant is Mazí – the charity we’ve committed to raising money for.
Mazí is a grassroots charity supporting young men seeking refuge with safe and stable accommodation. Mazí helps residents deal with health and mental health concerns, develop skills, find work, and pursue goals. This breaks the cycle of homelessness, helping each resident move on from prison-like camps and rough sleeping on the streets – for good.
Find out more about their work here: https://www.mazihousing.org/our-work
This will also be a huge physical challenge for us. We signed up on a whim while in Athens in April – before checking the elevation stats (!) – and have never done anything like this before.
We’d be so grateful for any donation – big or small. Everything goes towards making sure Mazí can continue the brilliant work they do in Athens.
Love,
Antonia and Patrick
