Silence for Samaritans · 2 March 2024
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. We're staying silent for 10 hours to raise money for them.
I've been a Samaritan for the last year, and I've been inspired by the volunteers who work so hard to make sure there is always someone there for our callers. I want to raise money to help this effort continue.
If you know me, you'll know that silence is not one of my strengths - in fact, becoming a listening volunteer for the Samaritans meant I have really had to work at building in more silence when I am on those calls! This 10 hours will really test me, and I hope you'll give generously to help me get through the day!
We commit to silence from 7am till 5pm, and we hope to be set up in Tunbridge Wells for the day collecting donations and raising awareness, pending council approval.
Around 6000 people a year in the UK die by suicide. The Samaritans are working to reduce this number. Lets try to help them continue this important work.
