The cause and chaos - why I'm raising money:

Never did I ever consider my mum being diagnosed with Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (a form of cancer that affects the immune system) three years ago and what a tumultuous and nerve wracking journey she, and her family and friends, have faced as well as slamming the brakes on her life and future.

Over the past few years unfortunately the realities of a truly difficult cancer came to life and created a whirlwind for my mum - - an array of treatment not be wished upon anyone - chemo, radiotherapy, immunotherapy as well as (hopefully) conquering stem cell transplant and salvage chemo in January.

The challenge - the finish line:

Anyone who knows me knows I don't shy a way from a challenge and something new. Never thought I'd get into the ballot after entering on a whim for about 10 years straight.. but for any aspiring athlete this is an absolute bucket list dream I cannot turn down (no matter how much i would like to now and again..). I'm lucky the training and distance is a challenge I've appreciated alongside what's happened and has given me some structure, discipline (unfortunately) and an emotional outlet. This will also be second London Classics event.

Here's to finishing the line (26.2 miles and remission)!
