Turning 18 should be a special moment. With support from family and friends, taking the first steps to independence can be an exciting time.

But what happens when you don’t have that support behind you?

For thousands of young people that leave care every year, there is

no safety net or helping hand. They enter adulthood alone.

When a young person leaves care without the support they need,

they risk losing everything: the place they call home, access to

educational and financial assistance, and their support network.
