Story
Leonardo's Angel Warriors are a small group of friends who are joining us for the Peak District 50km Ultra Challenge Walk on Saturday 4th July. We often take long family walks on weekends and decided we should try to make a difference and raise money for a charity that's very close to our hearts—one that has supported us since we lost our little boy, Leo.
On New Year's Day 2024, our beautiful son Leonardo passed away in his sleep. Our hearts were shattered that morning, and our lives have never been the same since.
We still, to this day, don't have answers as to why he died, and it is something that will haunt us for the rest of our lives.
Along with hundreds of other families who lose their children to Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), we will not stop searching for an answer. That's why we are fundraising for SUDC UK in memory of Leo—to enable the charity to carry out crucial research to try to find a cause for these deaths and to help prevent them from happening in the future.
SUDC is the sudden and unexpected death of a child aged 1 to 18 years, where the cause of death remains unexplained after a thorough investigation. Around 40 children are affected every year in the UK—more than young child deaths due to traffic accidents, fires, or drowning—and comparable to 1–2 seemingly healthy children dying every fortnight.

Leonardo was a beautiful little boy, inside and out.
He was a happy, healthy boy whose smile charmed everyone. He absolutely adored his big sister, Sienna, and cuddling our loving dog, Bella. I've honestly never known such a chilled-out baby.
In his short life, he developed a good taste for travel, from days splashing on the shores of Portugal to pub crawling around Belfast! He lived a short but truly exciting life.
No words can describe the pain of losing a child, but his memory lives on through us, and we are determined to do our very best to find a reason for his life being cut short too soon—and to help stop other families from having to go through the pain we have endured.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donations x
