I became friends with Eilish Flanagan, founder of the Aoife's Bubbles charity, after we both, very sadly, lost our children, Aoife and Finn, to childhood cancer. To put it plainly, our friendship purely exists because of the death of our children.

Both Aoife and Finn were rather small in stature, big on personality - and I know Eilish won't mind me saying - both a bit kooky but super cute, to boot! Aoife had her own unique style of dressing which would very often incorporate most of the colours of the rainbow! Meanwhile, our little Finny was always the kid with his shirt hanging out or his sweatshirt inside out and we could usually tell if he had participated in P.E. that day! Both Aoife and Finn had their own quirky little ways, were full of mischief and fun, running wild and free, with the wonders of the world, at their feet.

As their mummies, we loved them truly, madly, deeply for everyday of their little lives and will miss them, most dearly and desperately, for the rest of ours. The only thing that brings a little comfort and an element of restorative justice, is helping other children and families, in a similar situation.

Thus, we take on the challenge of the 'Aoife's Bubbles - All Good Things Are Wild and Free - Muddy Fun Run', with our hearts on our sleeves and the fiercest fire in our bellies!

All proceeds raised will go towards funding much needed respite for one of the oncology families that the Aoife's Bubbles Charity supports and further research projects with the Institute of Cancer Research.

Aoife's Bubbles, also, works closely with the wonderful charity, Freddies Wish, by promoting and raising awareness of their mission in providing paediatric first aid training. We will hold Freddie, safe in our hearts with Aoife and Finn, as we take on this wildest forest fun run, in their memories.
