The Latch Story

Imagine the heartache of watching your child battle a life-threatening illness. This is the reality for families like Betsy's, whose lives were forever changed when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at just 5 years old in March 2023. Betsy's journey is one of resilience, bravery, and unwavering spirit, a testament to the countless children facing similar battles every day.

For families like Betsy's, Latch is a lifeline. Since its inception, Latch has been dedicated to providing practical, emotional, and financial support to families across Wales whose children are battling cancer. From the moment of diagnosis, Latch steps in to offer a supportive hand, guiding families through the tumultuous journey ahead.

Betsy's Journey: A Testament to Courage

"Our world was turned upside down when Betsy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in March 2023 following weeks of being poorly at the age of 5. The treatment is long and gruelling, affecting her both physically and mentally. Cancer has taken so much from her, but Betsy never complains about what she is going through, and tackles every treatment with such bravery."

These words from Betsy's parents encapsulate the incredible strength and courage exhibited by children like Betsy in the face of adversity. Latch has been a steadfast source of support for Betsy and her family, offering them comfort, guidance, and practical assistance every step of the way.
