Story
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital.
RMHC Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain.
To support this fantastic charity I will be walking from Canterbury to Portsmouth, then getting a ferry to Spain and walking from Ferrol to Santiago di Compostela. This is one of the original “caminos” used by British pilgrims walking to the burial site of St James, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Europe. The route is 300 miles, 240 in the UK and 60 in Spain. The walk will take 6 weeks, including the sea crossing.
