Story
Zenways are celebrating the Buddha's Birthday with a Zen flower-style celebration as a fundraiser for UNICEF, the United Nations children’s charity.
Tradition has it that 2500 years ago in what is now southern Nepal, Prince Gautama was born in a garden. At the birth, the plants and trees spontaneously came into bloom. So in Japan, Buddha’s birthday is called Hanamatsuri, meaning "flower festival,” and is celebrated in many temples and monasteries. Naturally the festival particularly celebrates children and families.
UNICEF ensures that more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated, and protected than any other organisation. In 190 countries and territories, UNICEF works to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
Every donation will help to build a better word for every child.
