Story

On May 14th I will be starting the 'Combat cancer cycle challenge for Maggie's cancer charity' by virtually cycling the distance between all Maggie's centre's in the UK. This will consist of cycling 2149 km or 1325 miles over 11 days on an indoor bike. This is the equivalent of cycling the distance between every Maggie's centre in the UK.

I'll be cycling over 120 miles a day, which will consist of anything between 6 - 8 hours cycling per day during this period.

This is going to be an extremely tough challenge which will push me to my limits, but its for a charity which is so important and supportive for those suffering with cancer.

Why do the challenge?

So many people I know, family members, friends, colleagues and students (and their families) have suffered or passed away from cancer. One of my best friends growing up lost his mum to cancer when we were in our early teens, seeing him go through that loss when we didn't really understand what was happening was so difficult. Maggie's centres didn't exist then, but I know how important they are for people suffering with cancer and their families. We have lost so many wonderful people and characters to this terrible disease.

The amazing staff and students at Birkenhead Sixth Form College are (as a collective) are aiming to complete the cycle using three indoor bikes during my time on the challenge; this part of the challenge will be organised by year O Sport students with the support of their teacher Nicholas Whittaker.

If you can support us by donating any amount at all for this wonderful charity, I would be extremely grateful, every £1 makes a huge difference.
