I'm raising money for The National Memorial Arboretum

75-mile trek over 3 consecutive days in May

The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance; a spiritually uplifting place which honours the fallen, recognises service and sacrifice, and fosters pride in our country. It is a living and lasting memorial. Freely available to all, every day except Christmas Day.

Story

The National Memorial Arboretum is the Nation’s year-round place to remember. Situated at the corner of the National Forest, our 150-acres of gardens and woodland is home to over 400 memorials dedicated to those who have served and sacrificed for our country, from the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and civilian organisations.

Our team works hard to provide a safe space for remembrance and reflection of the incredible stories our memorials represent, within a beautiful natural landscape where new memories can be made. One of the latest additions to the Arboretum is the Trees of Life Glade, which honours the bravery and dedication of those who served our country throughout the pandemic, and to remember all who died as a result of COVID-19 in the UK.

In addition to the support we receive from our parent charity the Royal British Legion, every penny raised from our car park, restaurant, shop, events and donations from the public contribute towards our existence for over 300,000 visitors per year.

It costs £480 per hour to keep the Arboretum open 364 days each year, and free to enter.

That is why Arboretum Lead Mark Ellis and Head of Marketing and Business Development Maria Howes are taking on a challenge to walk 75 miles over 3 days in May, to raise funds for the Arboretum, and give something back to the people whose stories we work with the whole Arboretum team to represent.
