Story
My name is Archie Goodway, and this August I am taking part in the Edward’s Trust Summer Read-A-Thon to remember my big brother; Jack William Goodway, who died 11 years ago. We remembered him and celebrated him recently, on his 11th anniversary on 27th July 2025.
I've seen lots of my family members doing something to remember Jack' like abseils, sky dives, zip wires, cycle rides and runs. I would love to do something like this in his memory, however, I am only 10 years old, so I'm still a bit young to do a big challenge event for him (but i will definitely do something crazy for him when I'm a bit older!!!) but in the meantime, I am going to use the month of August to do something special in his memory...
I am challenging myself to read 4 books throughout the month of August and I am raising funds to help Edward’s Trust continue supporting bereaved parents, children and young people across the West Midlands. One of my favorite book characters is Tom Gates; I love reading all about his adventures at school and when he's out with his friends, they really make me giggle and Tom is a very funny, silly character! I think I may be able to read more than 4 throughout August, so I'm going to make a good start on the 1st August, and see how i get on, My mom; Lucy will keep you all updated on my progress!
Every year, Edward’s Trust supports around 700 families who are navigating the devastating impact of bereavement. It costs approximately £600,000 annually to fund the range of vital services we provide, from counselling and well-being therapies to support groups, all free of charge and with no time limits. I want to help my Mom who is Head of Engagement/Fundraising at Edward's Trust to continue her mission to remember my big brother and support other families like ours. Jack will always be tucked away in my heart, and although we miss him everyday; me and my big sister; Nell, talk about him all the time!
Without government funding, Edward’s Trust rely entirely on the generosity of supporters like me and you. Every donation you give directly helps bereaved families rebuild their lives and find hope for the future.
Please help me to do something special in memory of my big brother, that i never got to meet, it really does help to keep his memory alive and provides hope for other families going through a similar journey.
Thank you for your support!
Lots of Love and Cuddles!
