Story
This September, I will be joining a team of eight cyclists as we take on the North Coast 500, riding around 100 miles a day over five days in support of Heather’s Heroes.
The core team is embarking on this ambitious journey as each of us has a personal connection to cancer and how it’s impacted our families. It’s a chance to push ourselves while raising awareness and much-needed funds for local Highland charities.
For me, this is very much a step into the unknown. Until recently, my cycling experience was limited to the occasional commute. Training began in March this year, swapping running trainers for cycling shoes and easing into the world of carbon frames and Lycra. Steady progress was being made—until a ruptured appendix forced an unexpected pause right at the peak of my preparation. It’s been a challenging setback, and while I’m not quite where I planned to be, I’m still showing up. This ride will now be an even bigger test of resilience, grit and determination, and while the full route may not even be possible for me, I’m going to give it a good go!
On day four, I will be joined by three great friends to represent my practice; Arda Studio, and take on the 100 miles—offering some much-needed motivation, support, and laughs as we take on the challenging terrain.
The team will be digging deep, and we hope you can too. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference, thank you for your support!
