Why I’m Taking on the Malvern Hills 15K for Basics of Sikhi…
Over the past few years, particularly through some difficult and challenging periods in my personal life, I’ve found myself becoming increasingly gravitated towards Sikhi. During times when I was searching for direction, strength and a better understanding of myself, I started listening to talks from Jagraj Singh and Basics of Sikhi on YouTube. His way of explaining the teachings of our Gurus and making them relevant to everyday life really resonated with me.
My journey with Sikhi is still developing, but I want to continue learning, growing and, most importantly, leading by example for my children and the younger members of my family. I believe the teachings and values of our Sikh Gurus have so much to offer — compassion, humility, courage, discipline, service and standing up for what is right. I want to encourage those values within my own family and hopefully inspire others to learn more about Sikhi too.
We also live in times where division between people, cultures and communities is often highlighted and amplified through the media. I believe strongly in the opposite — bringing people together, regardless of their religion, culture or background. I believe this is one of the many things that makes the message of Sikhi so powerful, and I hope this fundraiser can also help shed some light on the positive work Basics of Sikhi do in sharing the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and promoting understanding, compassion and unity.
The Malvern Hills 15K is also particularly meaningful because I’m taking on this challenge while in the middle of a boxing training camp for a bout on the 19th December. Boxing teaches a lot about discipline, resilience and pushing through discomfort, and I see this hike as another opportunity to challenge myself physically and mentally while doing something meaningful for a cause I genuinely believe in.
I’m therefore asking for your support in helping me raise money for Basics of Sikhi. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support the incredible work they do to share the message and teachings of Sikhi with people around the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me on this journey. 🙏🏽
