We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

Meet Reilly, a 1 year old, black and white male cat that a member of the public contacted us about on 28th August. He had been straying in the area for approximately 2- 3 weeks. At our request, the concerned member of the public took Reilly to our partner vets the following day. Unfortunately, Reilly was discovered to have sustained third degree burns to both the back and front of his neck. The cause of this is unknown but thought to be that either acid or boiling water was thrown at him - photo 2.

Reilly was immediately hospitalised and given first aid treatments, so that the affected areas could be cleaned, and fresh dressings applied on a daily basis - photo 3. Reilly was also neutered while under anaesthetic to prevent unwanted litters in the future. Further tests later revealed that Reilly is positive for feline immunodeficiency virus also known as FIV, which suppresses the immune system and makes cats more susceptible to infections. So far, the affected areas are starting to heal well -photos 4 and 5, and we will continue to monitor Reilly’s progress and care one day at a time.

Why Your Support Matters

Reilly is lovely laid back young cat, who despite his ordeal is showing signs of progress and he deserves to continue to recover in a safe and secure environment. To date no one has come forward and claimed ownership of Reilly. Unfortunately, Reilly’s care has cost extra money, and that is why we are reaching out to our compassionate community to help us raise £500 to help cover this. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of kind-hearted people like you.

How Your Donations Will Be Used

• £500 covers the full cost of Reilly’s hospitalisation and care, alongside neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and flea and worm treatments to get him ready for rehoming.

• Any donations received above and beyond this amount will be used to care for other cats who come into the care of Armagh Cats Protection through no fault of their own.

Every Little Bit Helps

We are immensely grateful for any help you can provide. No donation is too small. Every pound brings us one step closer to our goal and ensures that Reilly gets the care and treatment he needs. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing Reilly’s story with your friends, family, and on social media. Together, we can make a big difference to Reilly’s life.
