Skydive Day September 2024 · 21 September 2024 to 22 September 2024 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I felt fortunate that I've not known anyone close to me to have suffered from dementia, but given that 1 in 3 people born today will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's at some point in their life, I realised it's more likely that I simply haven't been aware of what people close to me are going through.

Alzheimer's disease is a physical illness which eventually causes dementia, and common symptoms include memory problems; difficulty concentrating, planning, and communicating; being confused about time or place; and changes in mood.

An estimated 900,000 people are living with dementia in the UK today. As someone with aging parents, uncles, and aunties, I've been more and more worried about what they, and many others around the world could go through.

So to help raise awareness and make a difference, I'll be doing a skydive to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society. If you're able to spare some money to donate at the link below, you'll be helping support the millions of people affected by dementia in the UK. No matter how small, it will make a difference.

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity and works towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Since the start of the initiative in 1979, they have focused on supporting and improving the lives of those living with dementia, but also provide £10 million a year of funding towards research and lead government-targeted campaigns to provide hope for the future.
