Story
Me, my husband Tony, and my dad Allan will be climbing Snowdon overnight on Saturday 10th may 2025 in order to raise money for Sands in memory of our little Stanley 💙
Anyone who knows us knows we lost our second child Stanley at 36 weeks of pregnancy and he was born asleep in September 2020. It happened suddenly without any warning after a pregnancy full of normal scans and checks. It was a complete shock and we were completely devastated. It was without a doubt the toughest time of our lives and something we are still learning to live with every day.
Sands was one of the charities we turned to for help when we needed it the most, they provided a safe space to talk about our grief and everything we’d experienced with other parents like us, and unfortunately there are a lot of parents like us. I used the sands online forum daily for support through my grief and for support through my following pregnancies as I struggled massively with anxiety. I have been lucky enough to make a really lovely group of friends through the forum who I keep in touch with regularly and we even had a weekend away together last year with our families. The support of having people like you who have been through the same terrible things is invaluable.
So every year me and Tony try to do something in loving memory of our Stanley to help support this important charity.
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
We depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. #TeamSands
