Story

On Sunday 26th April 2026, Connor and I will both be running the London Marathon to raise vital funds for Havens Hospices to thank them for supporting my dad and our families.

I am running in memory of my dad, who died on Saturday 14th March 2026, after receiving palliative nursing and supportive care from Havens Hospice for 12 weeks and 4 days.

In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) a rare, immune-mediated liver disease that affects the bile ducts and liver. In July 2024 my dad underwent a liver transplant and bile duct reconstruction. Post transplant he was unfortunately diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).

In September 2025 my dad was told that the Cholangiocarcinoma had advanced with Peritoneal Metastases and that his condition was now terminal. He received palliative care at home until 16th December 2025 when he was admitted to Havens Hospice.

Havens Hospice continue to provide wellness support for my mum and our family.

Havens Hospice provided palliative nursing and support for Connor’s grandad. Connor’s mum Sally also worked for Havens as a fundraiser for 5 years.

Havens don’t charge a penny for any of their care services. Havens only exist because of the support and generosity of the community.

Thank you in advance for your donation ‘Making Every Day Count’ for all the patients Havens cares for.
