Two Runs… One very special Boy-

Hackney half marathon & Richmond half marathon

After a 7 month running break I’m back pounding those pavements (or London canal footpaths) to raise money for my little man Ronnie.

I’ll be taking on the Hackney Half Marathon in May and Richmond Half Marathon in September, in what might be the most special races I’ve done so far. Running a race around my home for someone I love so much to kick this whole crazy idea off couldn’t be better. I only have a few months to get back up to a standard to take on a race this big but it is totally worth it for our boy Ronnie.

Then I will have to keep that training going to take on another half marathon in September to complete this whole fundraising extravaganza for my boy Ronnie.

Ronnie suffered from HIE (Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy, lack of oxygen) at birth and spent the beginning of his life between several hospital wards.

As a result of the HIE, Ronnie was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at only 5 days old. The cerebral palsy is evolving as he grows older. At 3 months old Ronnie developed infantile spasms which is a rare form of epilepsy, although the spasms are not dangerous seizures they can have serious impact on development.

In the two years of Ronnie’s life I’ve seen him admitted to hospital constantly, undergoing operations and treatments. I’ve watch as his incredible parents, and two people I love so much, push and advocate for their son and do everything in their power for their boy. Even with all Ronnie and my amazing friends have been through they are a gorgeous happy family. Ronnie loves music and twinkling lights, and his smiles (and his little frowny face) melt all our hearts. Vick and James give Ronnie the most incredible life full of joy and love.

We are fundraising to fund private physio sessions for Ronnie. The NHS are only able to provide 1 session a month and we have learned that Ron will need these on a much more regular basis. Seeing how much Ronnie benefits from these sessions is amazing. He is already making so much progress and we hope that we will continue to see further growth as time goes on. We really want Ronnie to have as much independence as possible, and early intervention is key in making this happen.

Please help me get over that finish line(s) so I can help my boy Ronnie have every chance available to him.
