Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I joined the Royal Air Force at 17 and spent nearly a decade embracing incredible career opportunities and life-changing experiences. After two tours in Afghanistan, I left the RAF in 2013 and transitioned swiftly into the NHS. The following ten years were fast-paced and demanding, culminating in a move to a new NHS trust in 2022 where I found myself feeling uncertain about my future path.
The challenges of the Covid pandemic, during which I served as an Emergency Department matron, led to burnout and moral injury. This sense of being lost was really a call to address my wellbeing more deeply. Determined to make positive changes, I revamped my diet and lifestyle, took up hash running (a fun non-drug related running group 😂), and accessed some therapy through the RAF Benevolent Fund. Their support was swift and invaluable.
Fitness is now central to my life and most importantly I rediscovered my passion for military nursing—I am proud to say that in February 2025 I rejoined the RAF and arrived at RAF cranwell as Officer Cadet Lowther. When invited by a friend to take on a personal challenge cycling of 410 KM from Vietnam to Cambodia for charity on 24 October 2026, I eagerly said yes—and chose to fundraise for The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
This charity made a profound difference for me by providing support when I needed it and by providing a wealth of resources like Headspace subscriptions for serving personnel. These tools—fitness, mindfulness, open conversations—are essential for our wellbeing and help us become better humans.
Please support this incredible cause with whatever you can. Together we can boost vital services that empower those who serve our country. My fundraising target is £1,000; every contribution brings us closer to making a real impact.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
