Story

Hi All,

I am running the 2026 London Marathon in memory of my amazing Mum and supporting the local charity which is Loros.

When mum got her cancer diagnosis I think we can all agree here that we have not known someone to fight this horrible disease as much as mum did. She never once moaned and any knockbacks she got, she would pick herself and us back up and soldier on. At the beginning of this year we got the news that anyone dreads and that palliative care was being introduced to mum and this is when Loros starting to visit us every Thursday. They were a breath of fresh air to me and my family. Mum was really holding on to get that bed in Loros and when we got the phone call to say they have a bed for mum it felt like all of us family could enjoy them few days with mum.

Loros provides free, high-quality palliative and end-of-life care for terminally ill adults over 18, their families, and carers in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. The organization offers a range of services, including specialist nursing, social and psychological support, a Wellbeing Hub with social activities, and spiritual and practical support for patients and their loved ones. As you may have seen in the news just lately Loros is struggling financially leading to service cuts and a reduction in inpatient beds. Loros rely heavily on donations and fundraising to provide its services free of charge to patients and their families

14 weeks ago, I had never run more than 10km and then on October 26th I ran Leicester half marathon. It was tough but I got through it, With that being said I know that London Marathon is going to be hard but with the amazing support of you guys behind me and doing it for this amazing charity I know I’ll do it.

Nobby
