Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

I’m running the Great North Run 2026 for Sue Ryder. This cause means a lot to me because of my background in palliative care and my studies to become a death doula. This will be my first 21.1k, and I’ve been training for it since around late February 2026. Taking on this run feels like a meaningful way to challenge myself while raising money for a cause that deeply aligns with the kind of care and support I believe in. I’m proud to be fundraising £500 for Sue Ryder, with a minimum fundraising goal of £300. Any donation, big or small, would mean a lot.

I have seen the need for more end-of-life and grief support firsthand. I believe more funding should go towards this part of life that every person and family will encounter in some way. Whether in Canada or the UK, everyone is helped when compassionate support is in place.

For Canadians, Sue Ryder can be understood as a charity that helps fund hospice, palliative, end-of-life, and bereavement support. They help people live with as much comfort, dignity, and support as possible as they approach death, and they also support loved ones who are grieving.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with Sue Ryder’s support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. They are there when it matters.
