Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 · 11 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

This October I’ll be taking on the London Royal Parks Half Marathon — but I won’t be doing it alone. I’ll be running alongside my dad as I push my Nan-in-law, Lynn, around London to help make a very special wish of hers come true.

17 years ago Lynn sadly suffered a stroke on top of an aneurysm, and in recent years she has also faced additional medical complications including another mini stroke that meant completing something like a half marathon independently is no longer possible. Despite everything she has been through, her strength, humour and determination have never faded.

Last year, while recovering in hospital, Lynn made a passing comment that stayed with me. She said that when she got out, she would love to run a half marathon with me. It might have seemed like a small moment at the time, but it meant a lot to me — and from that moment I knew I wanted to find a way to make it happen.

So this October, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Together with my dad, I’ll be pushing Lynn in the London Royal Parks Half Marathon so she can experience every mile with us. We’re raising money along the way, and every donation, no matter how small, will mean so much and help make this challenge even more special. Thank you for your support💜
