Story
Hi everyone!
Some of you may already know me but my name is Ashley Vaughan, I’m 19 and In September, I’ll be throwing myself out of a plane — not just for the adrenaline rush, but for something far more important. I’m doing a charity skydive to raise money for Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Services, a cause that’s deeply personal to me. In addition to this On August 30th, I’ll also be hosting a charity fundraiser event to raise even more for this incredible organisation.
Early last year, in February 2024, I finished a long and difficult court case following my own experience of sexual abuse. The man was found guilty — a rare outcome, as many survivors never even reach the point of reporting, let alone seeing justice. I know how lucky I am, and I know how hard it can be.
1 in 5 people will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. That could be your mum, your brother, your aunt, your best friend — and you might never even know. It affects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. It’s not just women — men are survivors too, and often suffer in silence. This is a human issue, and it’s closer to all of us than we think.
I want to be more than just a statistic. I’ve spent years working on myself, trying to heal and get back to who I was before. But no matter how much I do, it’s always going to be something that has changed me — and I still grieve the person I could have been.
That’s why I’m doing this — to give something back, and to help others who are still finding their voice or trying to survive their own version of this story.
These vital services support people through the darkest times — whether they report to the police or not. They offer safety, counselling, and a voice when it feels like you have none.
If you can donate — no matter how small — you’ll be helping someone feel seen, believed, and supported when they need it most. Your kindness can truly change lives.
Thank you for standing with survivors. 💜
