Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society
To stop MS, we need to find treatments that slow or stop progression for everyone. That's why research is so important. Find out how your support helps clinical trials.
Over 130,000 people live with MS in the UK. It’s different and unpredictable for everyone, making it really hard to know how it’ll progress. And, at the moment, existing treatments only work on one aspect of MS - the immune system. But to help everyone with MS, we must stop the condition from progressing. And to do this, we must fund more world-leading research: new studies, vital infrastructure projects and ground-breaking clinical trials.
To raise money for for the MS Society I am participating in the Skyscraper Challenge in London.
What does this involve I hear you ask?
I will be making my way, on foot, up 42 floors (1092 steps) to the top of the Leadenhall Building (aka, The Cheese Grater). I will then 'free-fall' abseil 200m back down to ground level.
What is a freefall abseil I hear you ask?
Essentially I will have no contact with the building once I have left the platform at the top, an will descend at a rate of 2 meters per second towards the ground.
Is that all?
No, of course not. To make the challenge even more challenging, I have spent the last 3 years gaining body mass to make it even more difficult for myself. That's right, I will be lugging a whopping 15kg of additional weight up 42 floors.
With all of this in mind, please dig deep and sponsor what you can. Thank you so much for your support!
Ash
£30 - could process one blood sample, giving researchers crucial information about genes and the immune system.
£50 - could pay for an hour on a microscope, so scientists can study cells and tissue in greater detail and improve their understanding of the biology of MS.
£100 - could pay for half an hour of MRI use, so researchers can monitor the success of clinical trials and understand MS in more detail.
